This Prohibited Items Policy is part of the Terms of Service. It applies to Wants, offers, messages, profile content, and any other content posted or exchanged on the Service. Violations may result in immediate content removal, account suspension or termination, forfeiture of any Posting Fee, and referral to law enforcement.
The lists below are illustrative, not exhaustive. If an item is illegal to buy, sell, or possess in the buyer’s or seller’s jurisdiction, or in the United States, it is prohibited on Want.
1. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives
- Firearms of any kind, including antiques, replicas, and 3D-printed firearms.
- Firearm frames, receivers, and “80 percent” kits.
- Ammunition, magazines, and reloading components.
- Silencers, suppressors, and any regulated firearm accessory.
- Explosives, incendiaries, fireworks (beyond consumer novelty), and their precursors.
- Stun guns, tasers, and pepper sprays where regulated by the buyer’s jurisdiction.
- Knives, swords, and other bladed weapons prohibited in the buyer’s jurisdiction (for example, switchblades or ballistic knives).
2. Drugs, drug paraphernalia, and controlled substances
- Any controlled substance under federal or state law, prescription or otherwise.
- Prescription medications, including “spares” and international pharmacy fulfillment.
- Kratom, kava, and other substances where locally regulated.
- Cannabis and cannabis-derived products (including CBD offered as a therapeutic).
- Vaping products, e-liquids, and nicotine-containing products.
- Drug paraphernalia as defined by 21 U.S.C. 863 or by state law.
- Poppers, nitrous oxide sold for inhalation, and similar inhalants.
3. Adult content and services
- Pornography, sexually explicit content, and adult toys.
- Escort, companionship, massage-with-benefit, or any sexually oriented service.
- Any content that sexualizes or could sexualize a minor. Such content will be reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by 18 U.S.C. 2258A.
4. Stolen property and items sourced by theft
- Any item known or suspected to be stolen.
- Requests or offers using phrases such as “no questions asked,” “no serial numbers,” “off the books,” or the equivalent.
- Catalytic converters and other high-theft automotive components without proof of lawful source.
- Utility infrastructure (copper wire, telecom hardware, manhole covers).
5. Counterfeit, replica, and trademark-infringing goods
- Counterfeit currency, coins, stamps, or documents.
- Replica or “dupe” goods bearing another party’s trademark (handbags, shoes, watches, apparel, electronics).
- Unauthorized copies of software, music, movies, books, or games.
- Wants that solicit brand-name items at implausible budgets clearly consistent with counterfeits.
6. Regulated professional and health items
- Human remains, organs, tissue, blood, or bodily fluids.
- Prescription medical devices, contact lenses, and prescription eyewear.
- Diet or health products making unapproved therapeutic claims.
- Baby formula in quantities suggesting resale.
- Pesticides, industrial chemicals, and hazardous materials.
- Asbestos, lead paint, and other materials whose sale to consumers is restricted.
7. Wildlife and food
- Live animals, or animal parts covered by the Lacey Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Marine Mammal Protection Act, or CITES (ivory, tortoise shell, coral, protected feathers).
- Pets or livestock trafficked in violation of state or local law.
- Home-prepared, non-cottage-food-permitted, or unlabeled foods sold to strangers.
- Raw milk in jurisdictions where its sale is prohibited.
- Alcohol in any form.
8. Financial and identity items
- Cash, checks, money orders, wire-transfer credits, gift cards used as a payment mechanism, or cryptocurrency in exchange for goods on Want.
- Credit cards, debit cards, bank accounts, and payment credentials.
- Government-issued IDs, passports, social-security cards, and their templates.
- Personal information about third parties.
- Financial instruments (stocks, bonds, notes) offered to the public.
- Lottery tickets, sweepstakes entries, and pyramid or multi-level scheme opportunities.
9. Housing, employment, and other regulated categories
- Housing, real property, rentals, roommate arrangements, and timeshares are outside the scope of the Service at this time and may not be posted.
- Employment or independent-contractor opportunities.
- Loans, credit-repair services, and debt-collection services.
- Insurance products.
10. Digital, security, and infrastructure
- Malware, spyware, exploits, botnets, phishing kits, and credential dumps.
- Account credentials or session cookies for any service.
- Reviews, ratings, followers, or engagement for sale.
- Cheats, hacks, or account boosting for any online service.
- SIM cards, IMEI unlocks of unclear provenance, and cloned devices.
11. Government, tobacco, and other restricted
- Government surplus, official uniforms, badges, or insignia whose sale is restricted.
- Tobacco products and paraphernalia in violation of federal, state, or local law.
- Nazi, terrorist-organization, or other regulated symbolic memorabilia where sale is restricted by law.
- Any item whose transfer requires a license the parties do not hold.
12. Reporting and enforcement
If you see content that violates this policy, use the “Report” control on any Want, offer, message, or profile, or email safety@wantie.app. We remove confirmed violations, log the action, and may notify the affected parties. Repeat violators are terminated. Content that appears to involve child exploitation is reported to NCMEC. Content that appears to involve imminent threats to life is reported to law enforcement.
